How do students work in a choice-based classroom?

The students have been excited about our two new centers which have opened in the past couple of weeks: the Inspiration Station and the Building Center. The Inspiration Station is our center which includes all of our art books. Students have the choice to cozy up with an art book on the rug for the day, or after they have finished with their artwork at another center. It includes several different sets of building materials that students can use to experiment with creating temporary sculptures. The students have really enjoyed being able to work together! They have been especially fond of the Joinks building set. The collage center will be next to open, and the students are looking forward to it! This week, students in grades 2-4 will be getting a refresher on using chalk pastels in their artwork, and students in K-1 will be taking about how they can use their whole paper. As
